Music PiP does not collect, store on servers, transmit, or sell any personal data. No analytics, no accounts, no servers of its own: the extension makes not a single network request of its own.
Everything the extension stores is stored exclusively in your browser, via
chrome.storage.local. There are three things:
Also, the toolbar menu remembers, in the menu page's own local storage, which tab you opened last ("Now playing" or "Settings"). That name is all.
None of it ever leaves your machine, and all of it is deleted when you uninstall the extension.
From the options page you can export your preferences to a file and import it later (on another computer, for instance). Your browser creates that file like any other download; it only holds the preferences (not the playback state nor the pinned songs) and the extension never sends it anywhere: where it is kept and who gets it is up to you.
To work, the code reads from your music tab (music.youtube.com, www.youtube.com or open.spotify.com) the information the page already shows: title, artist, artwork, lyrics and playback state. That reading happens only in your browser and is never sent anywhere. The only part of it that stays stored is what is described above.
Nothing is shared with third parties because nothing is collected. The extension is unofficial and not affiliated with Google or Spotify; your use of YouTube Music, YouTube and Spotify is governed by those services' own privacy policies.
If this policy changes, this page and the date above will be updated. Questions: juandavidcmbs@gmail.com
